I started this piece in the Fall of 2013 and finished it the following Spring. That Fall the bad economy had finally caught up with me--I had nothing going in the shop, and I was spending my days working wherever I could scrounge up a carpentry job. I was grateful for any work that came my way, of course, but I was also, of course, depressed. So eventually I did what I always do --eventually--to pull myself out of despair: clean up my shop and start a new piece, or, as my father used to say, "Do something even if it's wrong." Since I was spending my days working elsewhere, most of the work on Sheila was done at night, after work, which seems appropriate for a spider.
